These images were taken in Rochester, N.Y., after the surge of protests that resulted in police body-worn camera footage being released documenting the arrest of Daniel Prude, a 41 year old Black man. Prude was shown experiencing a mental health crisis, while having a spit hood placed over his face and forced into the ground. The footage dated back to March 23, 2020, however the footage was not released until five months later in September, 2020. The following images depict the protests and community actions taken as a result of Daniel Prude’s death while in custody of the Rochester Police Department.
